Cameron Sinclair (MA, GGSM, DipGSM)

Composer, Conductor, Professor (Royal College of Music)

I have worked with Zara for many years in her capacity as Composer, Arranger, Music Director and Workshop Leader and have always been impressed by her musical abilities, professionalism and dedication to her craft. She has developed a particular flair for sensitive and highly effective vocal writing, where she draws on her extensive experience of coaching and directing in varying contexts; with young people, actors and opera singers. Her instrumental writing is imaginative and well-crafted and she works with equal assurance across different genres and styles. I have no hesitation in recommending her.

Emily Gray

Artistic Director, Trestle Theatre Company

Zara has a depth of understanding about the show-making process that not only makes her a perceptive and talented Composer, Writer & Musical Director, but a valuable and insightful collaborator within the rehearsal room, because of her theatre training. It is rare to work with a musician with such a sense of stagecraft, who will ensure that the music and song within a show is completely integrated into the meaning, characterisation and expression of the piece.

Joyce Branagh

Director, Writer

What Zara does so brilliantly is to somehow put people at their ease whilst pushing them further than they ever thought they could go. I’ve heard singers go from making a timid cackle to belting out a gorgeous harmony over the course of one session. And everyone who takes part can feel that change too.

Dr. Gareth White

Senior Lecturer in Applied Theatre and Community Performance, Royal Central School of Speech & Drama

Zara has an extraordinary talent for getting non-singers singing. She has given hundreds of our students the confidence to sing in public as well as to write and perform their own material.

Sherri Sutton

Stand-up Comic, Writer, Theatre Educator

Zara Nunn can take a room full of varied talent, skills and interest and harness it into gold – she’s the Rumpelstiltskin of singing!

Alan Hayes

Drama Coordinator, The International School of Brussels

Zara’s creative energy is contagious, as is her love of music. Working with her allowed me and my students the opportunity to push ourselves in creating, rehearsing and performing pieces of music in a short span of time…and loving it!

Lyndall Dawson

Head of Music, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts

I have known Zara Nunn for over ten years and worked alongside her both as a music staff colleague at English Pocket Opera, and more recently as her line manager at Mountview. Zara has worked at Mountview as a musical director on public and in-house shows for the Musical Theatre and Actor Musician pathways. Zara is a versatile musical director, owing to her expertise as a composer and arranger, and these skills were especially valuable in her adaptation of the  Actor Musician arrangements of John Gay’s ‘Beggar’s Opera’. In addition to her musical directing, compositional, arrangement and orchestration skills, Zara is an excellent teacher.  She has a wealth of experience as an animateur and workshop leader, and is confident working with all age groups and abilities.
